Das Lasergewehr ist eine Energiewaffe in Fallout 4.

Hintergrund

Zwar gab es vor dem Großen Krieg bereits ein weiter entwickeltes Modell, das AER12, welches aber einigen wenigen Spezialeinheiten vorbehalten war. Die Masse der eingesetzten Waffen, und damit auch der Grund für das häufigere Vorkommen im Ödland, war das AER9.

Durch das Hineinpumpen von Energie aus Mikrofusionszellen in den Emitter-Kristall wird eine Besetzungsinversion erzeugt, der letztendlich den Laserstrahl erzeugt. Beim AER9 wird der Kristall durch einen Titanmantel von General Atomics International geschützt, welcher besser gegen Umwelteinflüsse abschirmt, als die Gold-Ummantelten späteren Modelle. Das macht die Waffe haltbarer und genauer, als die neueren Modelle.

Wie alle Energiewaffen, leidet auch das AER9 besonders stark unter mangelhafter Pflege. Die Emitter-Kristalle und die nicht-mechanischen Komponenten sind besonders empfindlich. Werden diese nicht entsprechend gepflegt, führt dies zu Verlust von Leistung, Überhitzung und anderen Fehlern
